As a Clark State student or employee, you qualify for a free subscription to Microsoft Office as part of your tuition / employment. Microsoft Office includes programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Modern Windows computers require a new owner to create a Microsoft account when first setting up the device. This should be registered to your personal email account, not a Clark State email, so you can still use the computer after you are no longer attending the college.
The computer may have a free trial of Office included or it may ask you to purchase it the first time you open one of the programs. You may see a box similar to this, which case you can click Change and sign in with your Clark State email.
Alternatively, if that box does not appear, you can log in to Office with your Clark State account by clicking on File in the top left corner, then clicking on Account, and then Sign In with your Clark State email and password.
It will then show a few boxes with information; you should uncheck the box that requests setting up Office on the phone and also uncheck the box to allow the organization to manage the device. If this is not unchecked, the login will fail and need to be started over. (Gary – I could not get a picture of this step even on my own computer. Not sure if it’s no longer a thing or just because my computer was already established at one point.)
If the process is completed successfully, you will be taken back to the main screen of the program and should see your initials or a profile picture near the top right corner within the Office program and when clicked it will show your Clark State email. You are now free to use the program as normal for as long as you remain a student!
If you have trouble with any of the above steps, please contact the Clark State IT department at 937-328-5700.
